Happy new year | 1 January 2009

Last night we continued our new-found New Year’s tradition of making burritos and getting ecstatically hammered on champagne at home. But I started on the Dos Equis early in the evening and should have stopped after the first glass from our second bottle of bubbly. I was asleep half an hour before midnight. I woke up at 4:30am with a headache and broke a glass on the bedroom floor after drinking the water inside it. Late in the morning after cleaning up from the night before, we had the hair of the dog well diluted with orange juice, and then a hearty dose of Advil. I’ve spent most of the rest of the day under my new Hudson’s Bay Company point blanket, breathing in the wool.
